Sometimes I think photography is like life insurance…
You don’t want to pay that premium each year, because you really don’t see the value until the end, or you get it, but still…
Like photography, sometimes it is hard to spend too much money on it because we don’t really see was the point is at the time. But as time passes, the value is going up and increases every year. Why? Because you can’t get back time. It’s hard for us to memorize the details of faces and the stages in life.
Picking a right life insurance that includes great coverage without extra fine print will probably include your premium, however, it will get you a peace of mind that you know you don’t have to worry when tough times come.
Investing in professional photography to document lifetime events, to me, is similar. Often times I get email inquiries that say they didn’t have a great experience on their newborn sessions and I feel so bad for them because the precious time frame of a tiny newborn is so short and they can never get it back.
A couple years back, I received an email from my client. She told me that she just lost her mom and would like to use one of the pictures from our session for her service. She was so thankful that we just did a session of her two children with grandparents along with a beautiful photograph of all of them together. We created a big canvas for them that is hanging in their living room. The loss is sad, but the precious photograph and memories will always, always be there for her kids and grandchildren.
This topic is hard to touch on but it hits me so hard… I hope you see the value of photography as much as I do. I remind myself to be present every day. Experiences and memories are priceless, and it’s so important for me and impacts my kids so much…
