Happy Valentine’s Day
Happy Valentine’s Day Valentine’s day is just around the corner. Whether you have a partner or family, take this special time to do something fun and create great memories! Here are some ideas: Breakfast in bed One year, Chris, Katie & Nikki surprised me with a breakfast right in front of me when I woke up. I love how they put all the effort to get up extra early that morning and tried to keep their voice low so they wouldn’t wake me up. The breakfast was so delicious and melted my heart. Take a nice photo with your loved one Simply use your iphone or mobile device and take some pictures ...
My Experiences With The 3 Lies Photographers Believe
I am going into the 9th year of my business. January of 2016 has gone so fast. My business has had ups and downs through the past 8 years, and I have learned so much by educating myself to go through those ups and downs. I am following Katelyn James's blog, one of my favorite photographers and bloggers, and found a recent blog post from her quite interesting. In her article "3 lies that the experienced photographer believes", she shared 3 myths that experienced photographer are struggling with. I believe a lot of the experienced photographers out there are feeling or had felt the same way in some day. The 3 ...
Photographing Larger Families
Photographing Larger Families Effectively photographing larger families or groups is something of an uphill task, so when I had the pleasure of photographing a family six, I thought… “ well this should be fun” but the wheels in my head immediately started turning, and in this post, I will share some pointers as to what I did to make the shoot easier. LOCATION In many cases, the location of a picture is a great way to enhance a picture, I would say: as much as possible, scout out an interesting location before the shoot, to determine lighting, anticipate potential scenarios and compositions you could utilize ...
Look back 2015 and welcome 2016
To wrap up 2015, like the past 2 years, we created a collage from all of our amazing clients in 2015. 2015 has been an adventurous year to me and to my business - Zoe Zen Photography. There are 2 dreams that I wish I could accomplish but I always have the fear to do so. I have all the doubts and what if questions on my mind that stop me from stepping out on the first step. My dreams are to turn my photography business into a full-time career and to go to school in the United States. In August, I decided to go to school full time for Advertising and Graphic Design Associate Degree. This is the craziest and ...
TBT: My First Friend In The United States
Suellen, My Friend, Teacher, and Support Suellen is the first person that I hung out with when I first moved to United States, 11 years ago. She is an elementary teacher who lived across the street. My English was pretty bad at that time, I could barely put together a sentence. My oldest daughter, Katie, and her daughter, Macy, were very close in age to each other. She always invited Katie and me to her house and let the girls play together. We cooked, had dinner, played games, and the girls took bubble baths together. Because of all the activities that we did together, my English speaking skills ...
Gorgeous Maternity Session After The Rain
Sneak Peek! After a whole week of rain, we finally see the sun shining bright on Tuesday morning. I got to meet S family at the J.C. Raulston Arboretum for a maternity session. K is expecting her 2nd baby girl this December! I LOVE how she put together the outfit for the photoshoot. She said she didn’t know how to pose for pictures but after seeing her in front of the camera, she must have been talking about someone else! She did great and looked so natural in front of the camera. And yes, she is gorgeous and beautiful. I also got to meet the soon-to-be big sister, Miss O. She was so much fun to work with and so ...
Rain Can’t Stop This Newborn Session!
Sneak Peak! I think we had enough rain for the rest of the year from this past weekend! I thought we would need to reschedule our newborn session due to the weather. After I talked to Alex and Libby, we decided to go for the session. Mr.J is a handsome, little baby; his face was flawless. There are so many sweet details I just had to capture! His facial expressions were unreal and I couldn’t stop clicking the shutter button! Check out this sneak peek and enjoy <3 ...
Meet My Family!
Often times, my clients want to know more about me and my background. This post will let you get to know more about me. My name is Zoe Lam, the founder and main photographer of Zoe Zen Photography since 2007 and became Zoe Zen Photography, LLC in 2012. Due to my company name, many people confuse that my last name is “Zen”. The reason I initially chose “Zen” instead of my last name was due to the feeling and emotions photography brought me. Zen is defined many ways but the overall meaning is the concept of reaching complete focus and peace. This is what photography gifted me. Photography brought me so much joy and ...
TBT: Jason & Vickie Wedding
It was five years and six days ago, the day of Jason & Vickie’s wedding. I was the lucky one behind the camera who got to photograph this beautiful wedding at a quiet, private barn with some horses around us. The gorgeous sunlight shining through my camera lens created the perfect lighting during the ceremony. Daddy held Vickie’s hand walking down the aisle and carried her to the perfect man in her life. I would like to share some of the pictures from this special day. I can’t believe it have been five years already! Happy anniversary to Jason and Vickie! Five years down and many more to come! ...
